*sigh*
I couldn’t resist the impulse.
Ever since hearing the first news here on Tumblr about the Connecticut elementary school shooting, I’d been consumed with the urge to call up my eldest daughter’s school and make sure everything’s ok. I had practically convinced myself that I was being horribly irrational and overreacting because the shooting happened in Connecticut and we live in Colorado.
But it got to a point where I couldn’t stand it any longer.
I called up her school.
I’m glad I did.
The school has been on heightened security ever since word first broke out about the shooting. They aren’t on lockdown, but everyone on staff, especially on security, is on high alert.
The secretary at the office I spoke to was also kind enough to reassure me that I wasn’t acting irrational or overreacting, and that I wasn’t the only concerned parent calling the school to make sure their children were safe and sound.
I feel a little better now.
